Harcourt Butler Technological Institute (HBTI) is one of the premiere technological institutes in Kanpur. Established in 1920, as Government Research Institute, Cawnpore its name was changed in 1922 as Government Technological Institute. The present name, HBTI, was given in the year 1926.
About the Institute:The HBTI is located in two areas, one in East (77 acres) and another in the West (271 acres) apart from each other at a distance of 3 km. It is affiliated to Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Kanpur. It runs 13 undergraduate courses in various engineering discipline and 3 post graduate courses. In addition to that it has active research programs. It has been categorized as the 21st best institute in the country. The institute has both Hostel and library facilities. It has four departments, Engineering, Humanities, Sciences and Work shop.
Faculty:The Institute has very good faculty members who have contributed for the development of the institution. That they have contributed 350 research papers and 80 presentations in Indian and international journals are an ample proof for the academic excellence of the faculty members. They have molded the life of many young people to a great extent.
World Bank Aid:The institution has been identified by the World Bank and an aid of Rs 24.78 crores was given to the institution. The aid will be utilized for Development of infrastructure, creation of new laboratory equipments, Maintenance and repair of old laboratory equipments, funding for research and community developments.
