Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur
Established on 14th December in the year 1959, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK), is one of premiere engineering institutions in India. It was registered by Dr P.K.Kelkar, who was initially discouraged by many as committing a professional suicide by taking the initiative for opening the institution. But history has proved that he did the right thing at the right time. The Kanpur Indo American Program that followed by the initiative of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the next logical thing that happened to the institution and gave a fillip to the growth of it.

Main Aim:

Providing meaningful education, conducting original research of the highest standard and providing leadership in technological innovation for the Industrial growth of the country are the main aims of the institute. The present and past students who have made their presence worldwide in every field of technology are the testimony for the institution having achieved its aim. Its awe-inspiring performance and growth has made tremendous reputation.

About IITK:

It has 5 departments namely, Engineering, Humanities, Management, Sciences and Inter disciplinary. It has a student strength of about 4000 both in undergraduate and Post Graduate. The faculty and supporting staff strength are about 300 and 900 respectively.

Location and Management:

It is located on the western side of Kanpur City about 15 Km on the GST Road. It has area of 420 acres. The natural beauty of this campus is the most plus point for its attraction of many eminent persons from all over India. The buildings have been so nicely constructed with lot of environmental freedom and flexibility in movement and communication. Many famous persons like Dr S.Sampath, Dr A K Mallik,
Dr. RC Malhotra had adorned the Board of Directors of this institute.

No doubt the Institute continues to be one of the ‘favourite’ among the student community.
