Travel Destinations in Kanpur
The city of Kanpur has historical backgrounds and has a legend of its own. Many places in and around Kanpur have connection with vivid memories of both contemporary and historical happenings. Let us see some of them.

The Kanpur memorial Church or All Soul’s Cathedral:

This is church built in memory of British soldiers who lost their life in 1857 war. Designed by Walter Granville, an architect of East Bengal Railway, the entire church buildings have been constructed with bright red bricks in Lombardic Gothic style and polychrome dressings. Monuments of 1857 mutiny find a place inside the church. The memorial garden adjoining the church has the statute of peace of symbol.

Jajmau:

The mound of Jajmau, which is situated in the eastern end of the city has historical background. Historical studies undertaken during the years 1957-58 have thrown lights on the ancient periods 600 BC to 1600 AD. It is also believed that in this place the Hindu king Yayati ruled and the mound was his fort. There are two temples Siddhnath and Siddha Devi Temples in Jajmau. Apart from that the mousoleium of Makhdam Shah Ala-ul-Haq, the famous sufi saint, built by Firoz Shah Tughlaq in 1358 and a mosque built by Kulich Khan in 1679 are also there, which are worth seeing.

Sri Radha Krishna Temple:

This is a Hindu temple constructed by J K trust. In this temple ancient architecture has been mixed with modern construction to present a beautiful temple. It has five shrines, dedicated to Lord Radhakrishna, Lord Lakshminarayana, Lord Ardhnareswara, Lord Narmadehswar and Lord Hanuman.

Other Places of interest include Jain Glass Temple, Allen Forest Zoo, Kamla Retreat, Phool Bagh, Nana Rao park, Dwarka Dhish Temple etc.
